Vik is located in the western part of Norway and placed on the southern shore of the Sognefjord, one of the longest fjords in the world. You can get to Vik by taking route 13 over Vikafjellet from Voss, Bergen and Oslo. You can also reach Vik via ferry service from Dragsvik or Hella to Vangsnes, crossing the Sognefjord. There is also an daily express boat connection between Vik and Bergen, during the summermonths 2 times a day. The municipality includes the villages Fresvik, Feios, Vangsnes, Arnafjord and Strendene in addition to Vik.

The distance to Bergen is about 170 kilometres, and the distance from Bergen Airport Flesland is also about 170 kilometres.

The population is about 2.744. Vik's total area is 833 km2.
